These pieces are classical in design and organic in execution. I use textures in my work that remind me of different barks, leaves, seedpods, flowers, and other natural elements. What some people view as defects in the wood, interest me the most. I find inspiration in the way the grain swirls, feathers, or spalts. Bark inclusions and knots create pictures for me and I try to include them in the design. I love the natural color of wood and add wood tones only when I feel the piece should be shaded to enhance the look I am after. I use flat or satin finishes because it is more touchable. Please pick up the pieces and look with your hands as well as your eyes.
